Jaclyn Alatrash, the woman Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) has been dating for two years, was indicted Thursday on three criminal counts related to fraud, Mother Jones reported.
The charges stem from accusations by Alatrash’s ex-husband, Matthew Kampert, that she used his personal credit card without authorization to make more than $9,000 in Instacart purchases after their legal separation. Kampert told Mother Jones that Alatrash was never an authorized user on the card, even during their marriage. Their marriage dissolution was finalized in February 2025; the alleged unauthorized use occurred between September 2025 and January 2026, according to a police report.
Instacart records reviewed by Mother Jones indicate that many of the deliveries went to Miller’s Northeast Ohio residence. Specific charges cited include $50.99 from Spirit Halloween, $107.31 from Ulta Beauty, $152.08 from the Vitamin Shoppe, and $207.81 from Costco, among others. The allegations were first reported in May by The Rooster, a progressive Ohio blog.
Miller previously testified in a sworn deposition related to his child custody case that he and Alatrash began dating in December 2024. He has described her as a “very nice lady” in earlier court materials. Alatrash, a Cleveland-area anesthesia assistant (anesthesiologist assistant) and bodybuilder, is scheduled to be arraigned on October 23.
Miller and his attorney, Larry Zukerman (who has also represented Alatrash in a separate matter), did not immediately respond to questions from Mother Jones about the indictment. The story is developing.
The indictment adds to existing scrutiny of Miller’s reelection bid for a third term. His ex-wife, Emily Moreno (daughter of U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno), has accused him of domestic abuse, including throwing hot water at her, shoving her, and pointing a gun at her. She has also raised concerns about injuries to their young daughter, including a broken collarbone. Miller has repeatedly denied the allegations and has not been charged. Sen. Bernie Moreno previously said Miller “should not serve in the House of Representatives” and needed “serious psychological help” after the reports surfaced.
